Hello Adventurers! First and foremost, welcome to the first-ever post on Adventure & Home. My name is Megan and I am so excited to be embarking on an incredible journey. Recently, I packed up my entire life and moved south to Maryland. Why? I met a boy and followed him down here. Anthony and I met in college, became instant friends, and grew very close. After graduation, we parted ways but always kept in touch. Anthony always knew how he felt about me, it took me some time to get on the same page. A little over two years ago, we started dating long-distance. To anyone out there who has been in a successful long-distance relationship, I commend you. It’s no stroll in the woods.
After we started dating, we needed a plan. Distance on a permanent basis would drive us apart but I also needed time to tie up loose ends in my home state of Connecticut (Go UCONN!). So, we compromised. For two years I dedicated my time to my job and responsibilities there, which gave me time to leave my job on good terms and get my condo ready to sell. Consequently, I am happy to report that we officially live together! These past two years have certainly been a trying adventure. Stuck in a holding pattern for two years, we ached for the distance to be behind us. Now, we happily negotiate how to unpack, consolidate, and organize everything we own into one cozy house.
Why I Chose Adventure & Home
Moving my life to Maryland proved to be a rewarding adventure on its own but I also love going on impromptu day trips and longer, planned trips. My love for adventure goes way back to camping at Cape Cod with my family as a small kid. The thing is, life is a great big adventure every day, so I couldn’t just focus my blog on the road trips and mini-adventures we go on. Anthony and I are also renovating a farmhouse built in 1899 that has more than a few quirks and learning to live a life together as partners. I’m learning things I never thought I would about cars, construction, and even myself! Adventure & Home seemed to be a perfect balance between all the exciting things I hope to share with the world.
Over the course of the next few weeks, be prepared for a lot of home organization posts as I begin to unpack my life here in Maryland. Adventurers, don’t fret! Over July 4th weekend, we road trip in Asphault Adventure’s Back to the Big Easy Rally. Anthony participated in two previous to this one, but as a first timer I couldn’t be more excited! It’s going to be tons of fun and who doesn’t love a good road trip?
